How would I handle teaching an accounting class? Having to cover 13 chapters, I know would be a challenge. First, I think that I would have a big test every 3 chapters, and probably would have a nice review before every test to make sure that the students understood the definitions and math problems. So when the midterm and final come around they would be more confident.
I would probably just give my class 3 or 4 group projects. I would use the 9 steps to accounting project that we used in Ms. Smith class as one of them. I would give the students the opportunity to read the chapter, and if they have any questions I would be willing to answer, but just in case they didnt read the chapter I would probably have a powerpoint to break the chapter down. Also, I would probably use the Wiley Plus interactive video during the class to help students write notes. My class time would be spent going over the chapters and going over important things in the study objectives, and give them different accounting problems to practice in class to help them prepare for the homework that would be due on the next class day. I probably would let my class do blog entries as well to get feedback on the class.
I think that it would be cool to give the class an extra credit project that relates to the student's filing their own taxes, and probably have them do research on problems with letting other people file their taxes.
